A printer includes a plurality of interfaces for accessing a plurality of storage media containing print object data, an exclusive control unit used when the storage media can be accessed via two or more interfaces among the plurality of interfaces, so as to make one of the two or more interfaces as a valid interface, an image processing unit for reading out print object data from a corresponding storage medium via the interface made valid by the exclusive control unit, and a print processing unit for printing the print object data which has been read out from the image processing unit. Thus, it is possible to provide a general-purpose printer capable of using different types of storage media and having a high operationality for each user.
