PURPOSE: A method for activating the current collector for a lithium secondary battery is provided, to improve the adhesive strength between a current collector and an active material and conductivity, thereby enhancing the lifetime and performance of a battery. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of removing the oil component on a current collector in an acetone tank(21); removing the oxide layer formed on the current collector in an acid or base solution tank(22); washing the current collector free from an oxide layer with distilled water in a distilled water tank(23); drying the washed one in a drying furnace(24); and coating a polymer matrix composition comprising a conducting agent, a binder and a solvent on both surfaces of a current collector and drying it in a drying furnace(26). Preferably the conducting agent is carbon black or graphite; and the binder is polyvinylidene fluoride or polytetrafluoroethylene.
