The connecting device for a pipe comprises a clamping sleeve (2) which in an axially inner initial position fits in a cylindrical cut-out (3) in a coupling component (1). The coupling component on the end face of the clamping sleeve has a second bevel (12) radially tapering off in the direction of the cut-out entry (7). During sliding of the clamping sleeve from the axially outer locking position to the axially inner initial position the bevel acting as a run-on bevel interacts with the end face (13) of a locking tongue (6) to spread it radially outwards.
