Waste air passes through an extractor channel (2), and fresh air is added within the waste air intake area. The fresh air flow is laminar along a guide surface (6) in direction of a suction intake (3), and is sucked in together with the waste air. Fresh airflow speed, e.g. approx. 2 m/s, is lower than waste air suction speed, e.g. approx. 5 m/s to 10 m/s. Heat exchange takes place between the two different air flows. The extractor has a fresh air channel (4) with intake nozzle (5) with outlet, which is approx. parallel to a guide surface, which extends to the suction intake aperture (3) of the extractor channel. The nozzle is a narrow slot along the flat or convex guide surface. The fresh air channel contains a cleaning device for the fresh air. The extractor is part of an extractor hood (1).
