Producing paper and veneer, back-foamed sandwich composite molding, for e.g. furniture manufacture or wall paneling

The visible surface is a paper or veneer sheet. An independent claim is included for the air-permeable mold made and used as described. Preferred features: The mold interior is connected (4) to a source of reduced pressure, to pull the paper or veneer (5) into the mold. Cladding sheet for the visible surface is placed in the mold, and foamed over the rear, whilst the entire molded surface is subjected to reduced pressure as indicated. Back-foaming material (6) is expanded using water, with carbon dioxide formation. Cladding sheet is steamed before foaming. The mold itself (1',3), is made of an air-permeable hardwood or wood particle board. Its molding surface is formed by milling. The mold is alternatively formed by aluminum granules impregnated with a binder.
