A plasticized compound produced by kneading one or more polymers with other ingredients such as pigments, additives, fillers, reinforcements and modifiers is extruded and granulated in a fluid. The granules are then removed by the fluid into which a gas or gas mixture e.g. air or nitrogen, is introduced under pressure. Granules and fluid are separated and the fluid recirculated.
