CONTROL METHOD OF REFRIGERATOR

A control method of a refrigerator is provided to perform a defrost process for an evaporator required for defrost at an exact timing. Another purpose of the control method is to prevent unnecessary temperature rise in a compartment due to excessive operation of a heater by terminating a defrost process in association with ambient temperature. In a refrigerator having a flow control valve for refrigerant to control flow of refrigerant to an evaporator in freezer compartment and an evaporator in refrigerator compartment, a method of controlling a refrigerator with controlling of the flow control valve includes a step of opening the flow control valve for refrigerant to distribute refrigerant to an evaporator in freezer compartment, a step(S2) of operating a refrigerator under defrost mode to defrost the evaporator after determining whether the accumulated time for opening of control valve is exceeded the time set for a defrost process(S1), and a step(S5) of terminating a defrost process after determining whether a temperature sensed by a defrost sensor is not less than a temperature setting for returning to refrigeration process(S4).
