The engine has a crankcase including four cylinders, a drive shaft that carries a crankshaft forming cam (12), and a piston (6) sliding in one of the cylinders. A roller (10) is mounted on a connecting rod (8), and is contacted with a support surface (32) of the cam. The rod drives the cam in rotation during an explosion time of an engine cycle. Each cylinder has guiding rollers (16, 18) i.e. needle rollers, that guide in translation with the rod, and exert a support reaction parallel to and in direction opposite to a normal component of a cam`s support reaction, on the rod, in a same time.
