A pipe cleaning apparatus and a method for cleaning pipes are provided to improve cleaning efficiency without damaging pipes. The cleaning liquid supply unit has a pump for pumping cleaning liquid, a second supply line(22) for delivering pumped cleaning liquid, a second solenoid valve(23) on the second supply line for opening and closing the second supply line, a pipe(30) for joining pipes of the first and the second supply line, and devices(60) for applying ultrasonic vibration to the pipe joining the first and the second supply lines, On a liquid supply line, a cleaning chemical supply device is installed to add a cleaning chemical to cleaning liquid. The control unit controls both solenoid valves for delivering compressed air and cleaning liquid alternately to pipes to be cleaned at a preset frequency. A method of cleaning pipes with the pipe cleaning apparatus is performed by delivering compressed air and cleaning liquid alternately to the pipes to be cleaned with applying ultrasonic oscillation to pipe delivering compressed air and cleaning liquid.
