PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering device capable of suppressing a change in the moving resistance of a rack shaft while steering, and reducing manufacturing cost while suppressing the generation of the rattling of the rack shaft of a rack-and-pinion type steering mechanism. SOLUTION: In the steering device 1, a rack shaft 14 is urged in the predetermined urging direction F by a rack shaft supporting device 23, and received by first and second rack bushes 20, 21 at first and second ends 15a, 15b of rack housings 15 on the proximal side and the distant side of the rack shaft supporting device 23. The diameter of the inner circumferential surface 36 of the first rack bush 20 is relatively large in the first direction X1 parallel to the predetermined urging direction F and relatively small in the second direction X2 orthogonal to the first direction X1. The inner circumferential surface 36 permits the movement of the rack shaft 14 in the first direction X1 and the axial direction S while regulating the movement of the rack shaft 14 in the second direction X2.
