A tape dispenser comprises a base plate 14, a handle 12, a rotatable tape mount 16 at one end of the base plate and a seat member 18 at the other end of the base plate, the seat member further comprising a rotatable cylinder 22, a tape cutter 24 and an attracting element 32 disposed between the rotatable cylinder and the cutter which can produce static electricity to attract the free end of a web of adhesive tape 40 drawn off a roll on the tape mount. The attracting element may be made of a macromolecular material such as polyvinyl chloride and may be secured to the seat member by an adhesive layer 34, which may be double-sided and which may be an electrical insulator. The attracting element may be perforated 33 so as to facilitate its adhesion to the adhesive layer. In use, once a strip of adhesive tape has been dispensed and separated from the web with the cutter, the dispenser is able to retain the free end of the tape remaining on the roll so that it is ready to dispense. |
