Lamp assembly for direct connection to system wiring

A lamp 1 (figure 1) is hard-wired to a connector 2 through a mechanical/electrical interface 3. The interface 3 provides mechanical support and electrical connection, and may also include additional circuit components such as resistors 4. The connector is connected directly to the external wiring 5 without the need for any additional connectors. The lamp may be a light-emitting diode of any shape or size and the complete assembly is intended to replace the conventional combination of lamp and lampholder by a single component. Benefits include reduced component count, increased reliability, and reduced lifecycle costs for the operation of the system or machine in which it is installed.
