PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a casting collapsible sand core which dispenses with equipment such as a drying furnace or the like, can maintain excellent workability and can be produced at a low cost, and a sand core. SOLUTION: The sand core is baked and a coating fluid comprising a fine powder refractory and a thermosetting plastic is applied over the surface of the sand core having the remaining heat of the surface temperature as high as 120-160°C. Then, the remaining heat of the sand core is used to dry the coating fluid to finish the coating layer. The natural drying of the coating fluid with the use of the remaining heat of the baked core eliminates the necessity of drying equipment such as the drying furnace or the like and also allows drying in a short time.
