<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a printer connected with a network and its print controlling method in which the print state and the print record can be managed accurately under any network environment without requiring an expensive real time clock. <P>SOLUTION: A time measured by an internal clock is set as an internal time (S505). Print data is received from a host unit and time information set in the print data is analyzed on the host unit side (S515, S520). Set time of the internal clock is then updated using the results of analysis and the current time is set (S525).
