A method and a system for processing a PSMM collection call for position determination are provided to enable a PDE to retransmit an ISPOS request message to an MSC or enable the MSC to retransmit a paging request message to a BSC if a limit time excess message or a collection fail message is received, thereby collecting the PSMM. A PDE(Position Determination Entity) transmits an ISPOS(Inter System Position Request) message to an MSC(Mobile Switching Center) to collect a PSMM(Pilot Strength Measurement Message) for position determination of a mobile communication terminal(S200). The MSC transmits an RMP(Radio Measurement for Position) request message for collection of the PSMM to a BSC(Base Station Controller)(S202). The BSC transmits a PSMM request message for collection of the PSMM to the mobile communication terminal(S204). The PDE confirms whether a limit time excess message or a collection fail message is received from the MSC(S206). If so, the ISPOS request message is re-transmitted to the MSC(S208). The BSC includes the PSMM in an RMP response message and transmits the RMP response message with the PSMM to the MSC, and the MSC includes the PSMM in an ISPOS response message and transmits the ISPOS response message to the PDE(S210).
