<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a testing method for objectively judging prognosis of a colorectal cancer patient, and to provide a testing reagent for the same. <P>SOLUTION: This testing method is used in objectively judging the prognosis of the colorectal cancer patient after curing and removing the cancer, wherein the method comprises testing whether cytosine is alkylated or not in a CpG region of a promoter region which codes an O6-methylguanine-DNA methyltransferase (MGMT) protein by a nucleic acid amplification procedure. The method is developed by paying an attention to a fact that expression of a m-RNA of the MGMT and the MGMT protein completely disappears in a part of cancerous cells.
