A plasma display apparatus and a driving method thereof are provided to generate a stable address discharge by shortening an address discharge delay time during an address period. A plasma display apparatus, which includes first electrodes(Y) and second electrodes(A) across the first electrodes, is driven by using plural sub-fields that are divided from a frame. During an address period of at least one sub-field, a first voltage(VscL1) is applied to the first electrodes. A second voltage(VscL2) having an absolute value less than the first voltage is applied to the first electrodes after applying the first voltage to the first electrodes. A third voltage(Va) is applied to the second electrodes while applying the first and second voltages to the first electrodes.
