PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for purifying contaminated soil by which the soil contaminated with a heavy metal, an organic compound and the like is efficiently purified at an original position or in a site and no load is given to environment, and an electrode apparatus used for the method for purifying the contaminated soil. SOLUTION: In the method for purifying the contaminated soil in which a pair of electrodes are inserted in the soil and while water is fed, an electric field is applied to recover contaminants in the soil as an aqueous solution, an electrolytic cell is provided around the electrodes and while pH in the electrolytic cell is kept within a definite range, the contaminated soil is purified.
