PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rack assist type electric power steering device realizing a reduction of friction loss at the time of operation and a reduction of the number of constitution parts. SOLUTION: A lithium soap based grease (herein after referred to as a grease) 61 as a lubricant is filled in a space surrounded by a gear housing 31 and a ball screw housing 33. In the case of this embodiment, the grease 61 is filled or exchanged at the time of assembling or disassembling/maintenance of the steering gear 11 and a lubrication is carried out for a row of gears 40, a ball screw mechanism 57 and a double row angular ball bearing 45.
