A rapid and reliable diagnostic method for detecting the rupture of fetal membranes and a test kit for performing the meth- od. The presence of insulin-like growth factor binding protein 1 (IGFBP-1) resulting from the rupture of fetal membranes is de- tected in a vaginal secretion sample with the aid of a specific binding substance of IGFBP-1.
