PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite roll for rolling made of cemented carbide which improves resistance to accident by imparting mechanical strength of an outer layer material made of cemented carbide and adequate residual stress thereto. SOLUTION: This composite roll for rolling made of cemented carbide is formed by metallic bonding of the outer layer made of the cemented carbide with the outer periphery of an inner layer material made of an iron-based alloy. In a test in accordance with ASTM E399 the outer layer material has a fracture toughness K1c of≥15.5 MPa.m<SP>1/2</SP>. In bending test in accordance with JIS R1601 a test specimen for bending including a boundary joint part between the outer layer material and the inner layer material has a bending strength of≥600 MPa, and the outer layer material has a stress of 600-100 MPa in the roll circumferential direction.
