PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely detect abnormality in the biological decomposition without being affected by the charge amount of garbage, an operation state and the like. SOLUTION: A control method for garbage is provided with a temperature sensor and a water content sensor in a treating vessel filled with base materials for the garbage treatment; and a microcomputer, which controls a planar heater, a driving motor of agitation blades and an exhaust fan based on output signals from the respective sensors, determines the abnormality of the biological decomposition by whether or not that a ratio of the rising rate of the temperature inside the vessel which is calculated based on the detecting signal detected by the temperature sensor to the rising rate of the water content inside the vessel which is calculated based on the output signal detected by the water content sensor is lower than a predetermined threshold previously stored in a memory.
