An improved robotic power grapple having the capability to both manipulate a nd impact objects. The grapple has a head assembly (43) containing pivotal jaws (34, 34') and an impact hammer (29) disposed within a rotation means (33) to allow the head assembly (43) and jaws (34, 34') to rotate about a central ax is (41). An impact rod (39) extends through the rotation means (33) and through an opening (53) in the tips (37, 37') of the jaws (34, 34') to permit impaction of objects proximate the opening. In combination with an articulat ed boom (10) and orientation means (42), the improved grapple may be utilized i n severe-duty foundry operations to remove gates and risers from foundry castings. |
