<p>There is disclosed a method for handling of a used potshell employed during the smelting processes, for removing of contents in it, where the contents consist of insulation bricks, bottom carbon blocks, bus bars or similar, that are embedded in tamping paste, remains of raw material from the smelting process, plus residues of any smelted metal. The method is characterised by carrying out the following stages: a) loose matter is removed from the potshell by digging out and vacuum cleaning b) bus bars, such as cathode bus bars, are split into smaller lengths, such as by sawing, and removed to separate waste storage facilities, and optionally bus bars and bottom carbon blocks are sawn up simultaneously and removed together, c) the bottom carbon blocks are sawn up into sections between adjoining blocks, and removed, d) removal of tamping paste, and e) removal of insulating bricks. An apparatus (the product) for carrying out the method, and an application thereof, is also disclosed.</p> |
