The present invention provides a sensor (200) for structural health monitoring that includes a dielectric substrate (202), a piezoelectric device (208) for actuating and/or sensing Lamb waves, a molding layer (228) deposited over the piezoelectric device (208), a cover layer (206) deposited over the molding layer (228) and a hoop layer (204) surrounding the piezoelectric device (206) and being attached to the substrate (202). The sensor (200) further includes an optical fiber coil sensor (2 10) attached to the dielectric substrate (202), where the coil sensor (2 10) has a rolled optical fiber cable (224) and a coating layer (220) applied to the rolled optical fiber cable (224). The present invention also provides a diagnostic patch network (600) that includes a plurality of patch sensors (602) attached to a host structure (610) and a bridge box (604) connected to the patch sensors (602). |
