<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology which accomplishes the collection of high- resolution tomographic images using a 2D array ultrasonic probe. <P>SOLUTION: The ultrasonograph, which has an ultrasonic probe comprising a plurality of oscillators for transmitting or receiving ultrasonic waves arrayed two dimensionally and a phase shaping means for applying a delay time to received wave signals from the oscillators, is provided with a switching means which is disposed between the oscillators and the phase shaping means, switches the connection between the oscillators and the phase shaping means to maintain the shapes of transmitted or received wave fronts made up of a plurality of unit elements and then scans ultrasonic beams, a means which controls the switching means to form a first ultrasonic beam in a first array that has a plurality of the unit elements bundled and a means which controls the switching means to form a second ultrasonic beam oriented to cross the direction of the first ultrasonic beam in a second array that has the unit elements bundled in the shapes of transmitted and received wave fronts differing from the first array. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO</p> |
