摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a porous scaffold having desired characteristics such as high porosity, pore size and high strength, and to provide an implantable medical device, especially an orthopedic implant, comprising the porous scaffold. SOLUTION: The porous metallic scaffold comprises a porous network structure having pores defined by metal honeycomb walls. The metal honeycomb walls are coated with at least one layer of metal particles that are bonded to the walls. In particular, a skin of biocompatible metal is formed on a polymer foam by low temperature arc vapor deposition, the polymer foam and the metal skin are heated above the decomposition temperature of the polymer foam in an inert gas atmosphere, and the polymer foam is decomposed to obtain an unsintered metal foam. The unsintered metal foam is then coated with a bond solution, is sintered to thicken the thickness of the metal foam, and a final metal foam having a predetermined pore size is obtained.
