PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove sludge-like fouling by detergent adherent to a specified part of a washing machine, to eliminate an undesirable influence of washed clothes on the human body, and to alleviate atopy, rough skin, etc. SOLUTION: In a cleaning method for an completely automatic washing machine, a pulsator 9 is detached from a bottom part in an inner tank 6, the inner tank 6 is detached, and the back side of the pulsator 9, the outside and inner bottom surface of the inner tank 6, and the inside and inner bottom surface of an outer tank 1 are cleaned. In a cleaning method for a double-tank washing machine, a pulsator 13 is detached from the inner bottom part of a washing tank 11, and the back of the pulsator 13, the inner bottom surface of the washing tank 11, the lower side part of an overflow water supply pipe 18, the inner surface of a dewatering tank 12, and the outer surface of a basket 19 in the dewatering tank 12 are cleaned. In the cleaning, cleaning treatment with a sodium hydroxide aqueous solution, neutralization treatment with a hydrochloric acid aqueous solution, and sterilization treatment with ethanol are applied in turn.
