PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for inspecting an optical plate member are provided to automatically inspect the optical plate member at a high speed and to obtain a uniform image by measuring brightness of light in real time. CONSTITUTION: An optical plate member inspecting apparatus includes a sensor module(10), a control module(30), and a camera(50). The sensor module(10) includes a source detecting section, a signal amplifying section, an A/D converter and a signal interface section. The source detecting section applies power to a light source and measures brightness of the light source. The amplifying section amplifies a brightness value detected by the source detecting section. The control section includes an input/output interface part, a main control part and a camera interface.
