The invention relates to the devices for cooling and treating heated, rotationally symmetrical bodies made of metallic materials, primarily monobloc wheels, wheel treads, wheel disks and similar disks and rings such as railway and tram wheels, cog-wheels and sprockets. Said body is firstly de-scaled in the same device and according to the same method, and a functionally related, defined and reproduced adjustment of mechanical properties using complex cooling processes is subsequently carried out, the cooling processes are executed in different ways for different volume areas or surface areas of the body to be treated, whereby the predetermined areas of the body, by means of online controlling or online regulating, are cooled by a spraying or blowing that involves the use of at least one cooling medium.
