PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for compensating a synchronizing signal are provided to compensate loss of horizontal/vertical synchronizing signals, thereby realizing clear a picture. CONSTITUTION: A video/synchronizing divider(210) receives analog video signals for dividing the analog signals into horizontal/vertical synchronizing signals and video signals. Horizontal and vertical synchronization controllers(250,260) detect omissions of the horizontal or vertical synchronizing signal for compensating the horizontal or vertical synchronizing signal. An ADC(Analog to Digital Converter)(220) converts the analog video signals into digital video data. An image processor(230) adjusts resolution of the digital video data to be fitted for a display based on the horizontal/vertical synchronizing signals. A video controller(240) converts the digital video data into the analog video signals for displaying a picture on the display.
