PURPOSE: A brake system for preventing overrunning is provided to restrict overrunning of a driven shaft within the rotation range of the driving shaft regardless of direction of rotation of the shaft by transmitting rotational force from the driving shaft to the driven shaft and preventing rotational force of the driven shaft from being transmitted to the driving shaft. CONSTITUTION: A brake system comprises a housing having first and second end walls and a side wall; a connecting unit connecting the housing with the external unit for rotation or stop; a first rotating member(3) composed of a driving force transfer unit, supported in the first end wall and protruded out of the housing; a second rotating member(4) composed of a driving force transfer unit contacted to the end of the first rotating member, supported in the second end wall and protruded out of the housing; first and second pawls arranged in a ring member(6) to permit rotation of first or second direction and restrict rotation of first or second opposite direction; cam tracks arranged to first and second pawls; a collar(5) surrounding the driving force transfer units and engaging with the cam tracks; and a collar moving unit controlling engagement of pawls selectively. Power is transmitted unidirectionally by restricting rpm of the driven shaft below rpm of the driving shaft.
