PURPOSE: A telephone and a method for executing a response mode according to an origination group in the same are provided to give an absent response mode according to each origination group to a memory through a telephone in which each user-classified origination group is set and execute an absent response mode classified according to an origination group of a CID(Caller ID) received in the absent response mode of the telephone. CONSTITUTION: An audio unit(1) connects to a PSTN(Public Switched Telephone Network), and inputs and outputs a speech sound. A CID detecting unit(2) detects a CID of a call terminated through an office line. A ring detecting unit(3) detects a ring signal of the call terminated through the office line. A control unit(4) controls a system through the ring signal of the ring detecting unit(3) and the CID of the CID detecting unit(2). A key input unit(5) transmits key data corresponding to a key selected through a keypad to the control unit(4). A telephone number storing memory unit(6) stores a telephone number input through the key input unit(5) in a user-classified origination group. A DSP(Digital Signal Processor)(7) processes the speech voice signal input and output through the office line, or processes a user mention signal input through a microphone. A voice memory unit(8) stores the speech voice signal and the user mention signal processed through the DSP(7).
