PURPOSE: An electron gun is provided to achieve optimum focus characteristics by reducing the vertical spot size of the electron beam through the improvement of the structure of electrodes constituting the electron gun. CONSTITUTION: An electron gun comprises a cathode for radiating an electron beam; a triode unit including a first electrode(140) for controlling the amount of radiation of the electron beam and a second electrode(150) for accelerating the electron beam to a screen; a pre-focus lens unit constituted by two or more electrodes including a third electrode, and which focuses the electron beam; and two or more electrodes which constitute a main lens for focusing the electron beam to the screen. The first electrode has a beam passing hole(141) which is formed into a horizontally elongated shape having a horizontal side longer than a vertical side, and the second electrode has a beam passing hole(151) which is formed into a horizontally elongated shape having a horizontal side longer than a vertical side.
