<p>#CMT# #/CMT# The apparatus has a beam limiter (8) absorbing a laser beam in downstream of a condensing lens (6). An acoustical sensor (9) measures sound generated by a sample cell (7), and delivers a measured value in form of an electronic signal, where the sensor is realized in the form of a piezoelectric transducer. A control unit (10) receives the signal from the sensor to calculate a concentration of particles and to deliver a control signal. The cell has a rectangular body made of polymer or metallic material, borosilicate glass, quartz, silica, glass, calcium fluoride or magnesium fluoride. #CMT# : #/CMT# An independent claim is also included for a method for determining a concentration of particles contained in water. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Apparatus for determining concentration of particles e.g. impurities and corrosive products, contained in water utilized for a turbine of a thermal power plant. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The design of the apparatus permits the determination of the concentration of the particles in real time and in raid manner, and avoids the need for appropriate action according to the concentration of the particles, thus assuring efficient management of the water in the turbine. The configuration of the apparatus avoids the need of considerable mass of particles in the water, and detects the particles with size lower than 0.02 micrometer.
