<p>A method and an apparatus serving for powering a machine (13) operating at relatively high speed by means of energy form an energy source of the kind that repeatedly performs relatively slow, reciprocating movements, a spring (5) being compressed under the inluence of forces from the energy source, the spring powers of the spring (5) being released when the movements of the energy source change direction, and the machine (13) being powered by the released spring powers. The method and the apparatus can advantageously be used for producing electric energy from wave energy in e.g. the sea, the slow movements of the waves being converted to rapid movements in the apparatus. Thereby, a relatively small and inexpensive electric generator without gearing can be used.</p> |
