An information processing apparatus for recording data on a recording medium. The information processing apparatus includes a copyright processing information receiving unit for receiving copyright processing information which is information related to copyright processing of a recording medium and a copyright processing information recording unit for recording the copyright processing information on the recording medium. The information processing apparatus acquires copyright processing information which is the information related to copyright processing recorded on the recording medium and performs recording so as to decide whether to record a content according to the copyright processing information, thereby assigning copyright fee to the recording medium and properly protecting the copyright.
