PIPE SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ITS MANUFACTURE

A pipe system for transport of corrosive fluids, such as crude oil or natural gas, comprises a corrosion-prone tubular member 1 which is coated with an inner corrosion-resistant lining 3. The tubular member 1 and inner lining 3 provide a flat end in a plane 10, 11 orthogonal to a longitudinal axis 12 of the tubular member 1, which flat end is connected to a flat end of a threaded tubular coupling member 4 having a corrosion-resistant inner surface and screw thread 5. The corrosion-prone tubular member 1 coated with the corrosion-resistant lining 3 may be manufactured in long lengths and cut into a desired lengths whereupon each coupling member 4 may be welded to the flat end of said tubular member 1 and lining 3 in a single butt welding operation.
