PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and instrument for measuring random noise included in an input image at a high speed arithmetic processing and accurately executing calculation even in the case of a few images as small as two images. SOLUTION: A subtractor 50 produces difference data of two images received from an input section 10 to a frame memory 20. A multiplier 60 multiplies [1/2] with the variance of the difference data to calculate a random noise power. Further, a totalizer 70 totalizes calculated data of the random noise power by each of coordinates (x, y) to measure the random noise of the two images. Thus, the random noise can be calculated by two times of multiplication/division and one addition/subtraction to reduce the arithmetic amount in comparison with a first conventional example and high speed processing can be realized. Moreover, the method can measure accurately the random noise even with the small number of images in comparison with a second conventional example. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
