PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form one element of a functional element group with a dot image formed by adhering a plurality of liquid droplets on a substrate in the functional element substrate having the functional element group formed by jetting the liquid droplets of solvent containing functional material on the substrate. SOLUTION: The plurality of droplets are driven between element electrodes 42. In an example illustrated, the droplets are driven to form four liquid droplets 44<SB>1</SB>to 44<SB>4</SB>. Namely, an accurate functional element can be formed by forming an accurate pattern by the plurality of small droplets not by using such a rough method that spaces between the element electrodes are filled with only one large droplet.
