PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide no feeling of incongruity to a user by applying appropriate mute to a dialing signal. SOLUTION: This telephone system comprises a line control means 16 for capturing a line, an initialization processing means 17, a line capturing timer count processing means 18, a routing processing means 11 for deciding a carrier number, a dialing sending processing means 12 for outputting the carrier number or a dialing number set in an output buffer, a mute-off processing means 13 for turning off the mute when routing is completed and no carrier number sending is observed when a dialing mode is in a tone mode, a mute-on processing means 14 for turning on the mute when the first-digit dialing number is generated in a state elapsing no specified time after line capture, and a dialing operation detecting means 15 for storing the inputted dialing number on a dialing buffer when the dialing number is inputted.
