PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simply and efficiently give information for retrieval to multimedia contents by anyone and to prevent the meta data quantity from being increased to no purpose. SOLUTION: When a plurality of data are managed by individually giving meta data used for retrieving for the data thereto, an input sheet carrying predetermined meta data candidates is prepared, a user is caused to select the meta data from the meta data candidates, and the selected meta data is saved in connection with the data. When the existing meta data (b) and (c) given in the past are in the data to which the meta data is given, the data (b) and (c) are synthesized with the new meta data (a) to be given, and the synthesized meta data (d) is given to prevent repetition of the meta data.
