PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify path setting in an optical network.

SOLUTION: A method for controlling a communication network comprises: a first step S4 for automatically sending address information on a control channel 4 from one device to the other device between a terminating device and a user device and setting the control channel 4 on the basis of the address information; second steps S5 and S6 for mutually transmitting and receiving communication path information about at least one communication path usable as a path 5 between the terminating device and the user device through the control channel 4; a third step S7 for automatically sending address information on the path 5 from one device to the other device between the terminating device and the user device through the control channel 4; and a fourth step S8 for setting the path 5 on the basis of the communication path information and the address information.
