PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photoelectric pulse wave measuring apparatus capable of reducing power consumption without lowering precision of the measurement of pulse waves. SOLUTION: When measuring the pulse waves, a control circuit 31 divides one cycle of the pulse waves into a first region from the rise to the peak, a second region from the peak to the fall, a third region of the prescribed period of the first half of a diastolic phase after the fall, and a fourth region of the prescribed period of the second half of the diastolic phase, makes the time interval of light emission in a light emitting circuit 11 shortest in the first region by controlling a drive circuit 20, and forms pulse wave signals in synchronism with the time interval of the light emission by controlling a signal formation circuit 21.
