PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp, a discharge lamp lightening device and a lighting system capable of preventing a short circuit between a pair of lead wires by blocking continuous adhesion and accumulation of an electron emission material on a stem between a pair of the lead wires. SOLUTION: This discharge lamp 1 is provided with a bulb 2 constituted by a translucent glass tube, a mount 3 having a pair of the lead wires 7 for supporting both ends of a filament electrode 8 and the stem 6 for sealing the lead wires 7 and sealed on at least one end of the bulb 2, and a recessed part 4 formed on a surface of the stem 6 confronting the filament electrode 8 between a pair of the lead wires 7 so that a minimum width W2 on an aperture 4b side is smaller than a maximum width W1 on a bottom 4a side of the filament electrode 8 along the longitudinal direction.
