<p>In a position detecting system for monitoring a suspicious person and giving an alarm using a radar transmitting/receiving a microwave or a millimetric wave, detectable region by the radar does not always match a region to be monitored and an alarm may be given erroneously for an object existing on the outside of the region to be monitored. The monitoring region is surrounded by a plurality of reflectors and the coordinate values are calculated based on signals received from the reflectors and the object, respectively, and then they are compared with each other. When the coordinate value of the object falls within the region to be monitored, that object is judged to be suspicious and an alarm is given. When the coordinate value of the object does not fall within the region to be monitored, that object is judged not to be suspicious and no alarm is given. When calibration work and self-diagnostic work of the radar are performed periodically using at least one reflector, performance of the radar can be kept optimal at all times.</p> |
