PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for correcting defective pixels capable of correcting the defective pixels with high accuracy independently of the arrangement of pixels of a solid-state imaging element and the wavelength. SOLUTION: The apparatus for correcting defective pixels comprises: a CCD area sensor 1 having a Bayer pattern color filter array on its light receiving face; a memory 4 for storing the position information of defective pixels in the CCD area sensor; and a defect correction circuit 5 for correcting, on the basis of the position information stored in the memory, a signal outputted from pixels corresponding to the position, and the defect correction circuit generates a correction signal for the defective pixels by averaging output signals of eight pixels in the same color as that of the target defective pixel and apart from the target defective pixel being the correction object by two pixels.
