<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for an electron source, capable of stabilizing a manufacturing process for an electron source composed of a plurality of electron emitting elements to manufacture an image forming apparatus having excellent display grade without defect at a low cost. <P>SOLUTION: This manufacturing method includes a process of disposing a plurality of units respectively composed of a pair of electrodes disposed on a substrate and a high polymer film connecting between the electrodes, and wires connected to each of the plurality of units, a process of applying light to the plurality of units at the same time to thereby lower the resistance of the high polymer film, and a process of applying an electric current to the film where the resistance of the high polymer film is lowered to form a gap. In the electron source, the light is in the wavelength region from the infrared light to ultraviolet light, and the absorptivity of the wire to the light is lower than the absorptivity of the paired electrode. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO</p> |
