The invention makes possible an improved use of extracorporeal blood treatment systems due to the prevention and early detection of circulatory-related complications. In a particular case, the invention relates to a novel device that, for the first time, enables a rapid displacement of blood volume between intracorporeal and extracorporeal circulation of the magnitude of no greater than approximately 10 % of the total blood volume and permits the temporary storage of the displaced volume in the volume-variable extracorporeal blood volume equalizing reservoir provided for accommodating this displaced volume. Sensors are used to be able to determine the state of the circulatory system based on blood properties and/or on circulation variables, which subsequently serve to control the volume balance and the blood pressure stability in the course of further treatment of the blood. The circulatory stability achieved by using the novel device for treating blood is capable of preventing or at least significantly reducing treatment-related faults that, up to now, have been difficult to control thereby enabling, by comparison, a significantly improved and careful treatment using extracorporeal blood treatment devices. |
