When a control device 2 receives a request for access from a client device 7 via an internal network 5, data transfer instruction is given to a cache device 4 or a storage device 3, and the cache device 4 or the storage device 3 receiving the instruction performs direct conversation necessary for data transfer with the client device 7 according to the instruction to perform data transfer to/from the client device 7. The latency of a storage system 1 can be considerably reduced, and the throughput can be considerably improved a band capable of sufficiently making the best of the performance of the internal network 5 can be ensured thereby.
